The Magic Gauge is the status bar that indicates a character's mental focus. As total concentration is needed to cast a spell, magic can only be used when the gauge is full and it is depleted when the spell is used. The gauge will automatically refill after this, much like the Power Gauge with physical attacks, though the quickness of this depends on different factors for each game.

The speed of which the gauge refills is influenced by the magic stat, which naturally increases as Jean Alfred Forester levels up. This can be accelerated if the player uses a piece of verdite. Additionally, each spell has a distinct recharge time that is effected by the magic stat; for example if Jean casts Light Needle with a magic stat of 50 then the gauge will refill much more quickly than if he cast the spell with a stat of 12.
King's Field II[edit]
The gauge is functionally identical to the previous game.
King's Field III[edit]
As there is no longer a singular magic stat in the finale to the Verdite trilogy, the calculation influencing the magic gauge has become more involved: there are five separate magical stats correlating to the elements of Light, Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind. Each point in an elemental stat has a minor influence on the gauge's refill speed, further influenced by the recharge time of the selected spell within that element.
The newly added wisdom stat has a much larger influence on the gauge's refill speed, with each point hastening the process considerably. The wisdom stat can be increased by consuming one of the four wise fruits found throughout the kingdom, similar to the verdite orbs in the previous two games.
