The Power Gauge is is the status bar that indicates a character's physical condition. When the gauge is maxed out the player can attack at full strength, and when an attack is performed when the gauge is not full then the strike will be significantly weaker. The gauge will begin to automatically refill once an attack is performed, and the speed of this is determined by the strength stat and the weight of the equipped weapon.

Appearances

King's Field

The power gauge is introduced in the seminal King's Field game, setting the standard for all sequels. Wielding heavier weapons will cause Jean Alfred Forester's power gauge to refill very slowly, but this can be mitigated by increasing his strength stat: every enemy defeated by a physical attack yields unseen experience points for the stat and once the threshold is met his strength increases. More powerful enemies yield more unseen experience points.

It is a common misconception that slaying enemies with heavier weapons will increase the strength stat faster, but this is a myth.

King's Field II

The power gauge behaves exactly as it did in the previous game.

King's Field III

The power gauge has the same properties as before, but players can expedite the growth of the strength stat by consuming Power Fruits. These odd berries increase the strength stat by +1, and one can be found in the Passage of Death, one in the Path of Thieves, one in the Cave of the Dawrf, two in the Path of Poison, and three in Verdite Castle.
